We met up in Waxy O’Connor’s, which despite its Irish sounding name doesn’t appear to be an Irish pub. If you’re wondering, it is located just near the main gates to Chinatown and the place itself is like a labyrinth across several levels once you’re inside. Zara n Jarrett left early which left Sheryl, Vanessa, Paul and myself to while away the evening with “Skippy” (an inflatable kangaroo that I scored from the bar staff). We also managed to get ourselves into this photo that is up on the Waxy O’Connor’s facebook page - giving us 15 seconds of fame...
We received the disappointing news from back home, that Australia Day is no more thanks to the PC crowd stuffing it up and re-doing it as “International Australia Day”. It really is disappointing, and downright embarrassing, when you see your own country behave so ridiculously and destroying something that wasn’t even un-PC to begin with. The English envy our Australia Day and the way we celebrate it. Many wish they had a national day, without even realising that they have such a day on the 23rd of April - St George’s Day. Now they laugh at us for stuffing up something so good...
