Every Ware

Back from Bath, things did slow down a little, but only a little as we still had quite a social calendar coming up...
We met up again with Sheryl’s friends, Bec and Sanj, for dinner one night. We spent an evening in an interesting bar in Chinatown with some other friends of Sheryl’s, before dining in Chinatown. And there were two dinners with Marty n Karyn. One was an evening in Brick Lane where we spent some time in groovy little bar before haggling with the touts of the Indian restaurants for a good dinner. The other was spent in Soho at the Bob Bob Ricard restaurant (right) - a quirky restaurant that owes its interior design to Karyn’s previous boss. As it was a relatively quiet night, we even managed to get to spend some time in the members bar underneath.

This wasn’t the only adventures that Sheryl and I had with Marty n Karyn. We spent a day at Camden Market discovering an amazing coffee stall/shop in the new section of the market, before finishing the afternoon in the Inspiral cafe for some amazing hot chocolates on what turned into a very cold and miserable [weathered] day. On the topic of Camden Market (below), Sheryl and I returned a week later to collect a few things we’d seen when with Karyn n Marty, and once again ended up in the same cafe for what was an alternative, but very tasty dinner.

We also managed to have a good exploration of Borough Market, taking in many of the stalls and tasting many items and samples, before spending the afternoon strolling the south bank of the Thames. We made our way up to Covent Garden and eventually heading home in the late afternoon.

During that following week, I had managed to get two tickets to see Cat on a Hot Tin Roof. We nearly didn’t go as two nights before I came down with a bad gastro. Sheryl copped a dose as well, but not as bad. We still went for the evening - you just can’t pass up a chance to see both James Earl Jones and Phylicia Rashad (Mrs Huxtable, if you recall) performing live. I had also jagged front row seats too.
Neither actor disappointed either, puting on fantastic performances, as did their fellow actors. A great show and to see both these fantastic actors was great. Definately worth the trip into the West End despite both feeling very poorly.

For Sheryl’s last weekend, we found ourselves in Ware just north of London for the weekend. The occasion was Row and Mark’s wedding up at Fanhams Hall.
We headed up on the Friday night and had a bit of a night out in the local pub with Row, Mark and several others for a bit of a meet n greet before the wedding on the Saturday.
Fanhams Hall is an amazing old place with quite sizeable gardens, so after breakfast, we spent some time poking around the mansion as well as going for quite a long walk through the gardens, which happened to be bathed in sunlight for the most of the morning.
In the early afternoon, Karyn n Marty arrived just before the wedding itself. It was a simple ceremony followed by what turned into a good dinner and party that continued on well into the night.
Unfortunately, Sheryl and I slept through breakfast so had a quiet breakfast at a cafe in Ware. And, after the train ride back from Ware with Marty n Karyn, we headed off to Notting Hill to meet Vanessa and Nick, along with some of their friends.
It made for a welcome relaxed afternoon in the Churchill Arms pub - a rather interesting English pub with not only far too many things hanging on the walls and from the ceilings, but with its own Thai restaurant as well as its own mini rainforest in one section. A great way to finish off the last few weeks...
